‘The Pillowman’ tells the story of a fiction writer, Katurian, who living in a police state is interrogated about the gruesome content of some of his short stories and their similarities with various child murders happening in his town.
The poor form of site updates from Roach Productions continues into 2010, but better late than never eh?
Right, to bring you up to speed. We’ve just finished shooting our latest short film, which is a long time follow up to our highly praised debute ‘Led’ (2008), and will be realeased on the 1st June. Written by the amazing Martin McDonaugh (In Bruges) and produced alongside our good friends the Hanrick Theatre Company, the film is called “The Little Jesus Story” and will be projected during the Hanrick production of “The Pillowman” which will be at Bar Seven in Leeds from the 21st May. You can get tickets for it here, but it’s worth pointing out that you need to email the venue to reserve tickets, clearly they are in need of a roach website design update…
In other news we have also just wrapped the video for Belfast’s hot ticket rock supremo’s mojoFURY and that video is currently in the editing cave. Yet another video production shot in Leeds, this one involved an acid trip beyond all acid trips and will be an absolute corker for all your substance bearing teeth knashers our there. Have a listen to the bands tunes and I’ll soon post all the images and final vid as soon as possible.
But if I don’t… sod ya… you’ll have to wait longer.
Our new series will be piloting this week so fingers crossed the audiance are happy little morons and we get a nice chunk of commission to make more, which will then lead to our ultimate goal… which I ain’t saying here.
Would like to make a shameless plug now for our good friend Mj Holloway who runs the rather glorious 5DHire.co.uk website.
That is all for now, keep posting, keep sending us your mail, it’s grand.
Just when you thought it was safe to walk the streets not smelling like a festival toilet after a solid night of teeth clenching water bottle draining dance heads have had their wicked way with you, check out the new video for our friends over at Organised Mess. Jester Jacobs gets up to his usual shit in this stonker from his Mental Disorder album, and as usual we spent low so the boys can all have christmas presents this year. We’d like to point out that those are orginal super soakers from 1996 so as usual with Roach, you get the GENUINE. Have a watch, see how you feel, cause we can tell you that this video won’t make you feel like you wasted 3 minutes of your life. That’s a Roachy PROMISE.
With Imicus - Viseral all set for Scuzz release this month, now would be a good time to take stock over whats happening at Roach Productions.
In a nutshell, we’re taking some time off. With Jester Jacobs, idreaminmetaphors and Castrovalva all slated for video releases within the next 3 months, plus the super secret BBC Three pilot we’ve been working on, and of course the adverts we’ve made for John Parkin’s F*ck It, oh and then there’s our pre-production on our return to the film world…..
Basically, our hands are totally full at the momment.
That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get in touch, we’ve been talking to some fantastic artists recently, and we’ll always want to work with artists we enjoy being around with tracks we believe in. Just don’t expect us to turn round a video by next week!
We’ll be returning to the fold in February 2010 once our current projects have been finalised and released. Keep your emails coming, we’ve always got our ears open to the next genius idea.
Much love from Roach, and I hope you all have a truely grimey Christmas.
Roach Productions has just finished creating the artwork for Leeds based genre-avoiders The Final Sigh.
The band wanted concept artwork that would be used to brand all of their media and most importantly, make them stand out from all the other hundreds of bullshit tight tee shirt waving bands who annoy the snot out of us every day on all various ’social’ networking sites. At Roach we love textures, and now we really love westerns.

As an experiment to the limits you can take a £1000 budget, Roach took a break from the trend and allowed an outsider to direct this beast of a video. With over 200 participants in the video it was a long, hard journey but with the band happier then pigs in a sewage spillage, another green tick in the box for Roach.
Now we’re very aware that some of you have said “that isn’t as Roach as we thought it would be”, well… screw you lot, we’re making another one just to please YOU. The “Bad VHS” version will be out on halloween. Try not to shit yourself.
9th October, Leeds most amazing creative evening of the year, Light Night will feature work from Roach Productions.
